On My Wishlist (4)

On My Wishlist is a weekly meme that allows us to share the books we haven't bought yet but are waiting to be bought and devoured. This idea is brought to us by Book Chick City.

On my wishlist this week is:

The Iron King by Julie KagawaTitle: The Iron King
Author: Julie Kagawa
Publisher: Harlequin
Publication Date: February 2010

Summary:
MEGHAN CHASE HAS A SECRET DESTINY— ONE SHE COULD NEVER HAVE IMAGINED…
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan’s life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school…or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she’s known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth—that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she’ll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil no faery creature dare face…and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

firespell by chloe neillTitle: Firepell
Author: Chloe Neill
Publisher: Signet
Publication Date: 5th January 2010

Summary:
As the new girl at the elite St. Sophia’s boarding school, Lily Parker thinks her classmates are the most monstrous things she’ll have to face…

When Lily’s guardians decided to send her away to a fancy boarding school in Chicago, she was shocked. So was St. Sophia’s. Lily’s ultra-rich brat pack classmates think Lily should be the punchline to every joke, and on top of that, she’s hearing strange noises and seeing bizarre things in the shadows of the creepy building.

The only thing keeping her sane is her roommate, Scout, but even Scout’s a little weird—she keeps disappearing late at night and won’t tell Lily where she’s been. But when a prank leaves Lily trapped in the catacombs beneath the school, Lily finds Scout running from a real monster.
Scout’s a member of a splinter group of rebel teens with unique magical talents, who’ve sworn to protect the city against demons, vampires, and Reapers, magic users who’ve been corrupted by their power. And when Lily finds herself in the line of firespell, Scout tells her the truth about her secret life, even though Lily has no powers of her own—at least none that she’s discovered yet…

There won't be any On My Wishlist post for Ink and Paper today, because I can't for the life of me remember any adult fantasy book that I want. I know! My mind is going, I swear.

What are you wishing for this week?

  2. Haha! That's cool! I don't particularly like the idea of a kindle, or other e-readers. I like a good physical book! :)

  8. I loved The Bermudez Triangle - it's my second favourite Maureen Johnson book. (And did you know it was the first to be published in the UK? We have a different cover over here.)

I hope you get hold of all these great books, and enjoy them!

  12. Luisa - Oh, damn! I saw the two covers, but it wouldn't tell me which one was the UK cover - seeing as this cover was released second, I assumed it was the UK cover. It was the first book by Maureen Johnson to be published over here? Meaning, she had released more before hand, but they weren't published here first? Sorry, I can be slow sometimes.

Jessica - I've only read the first of Chloe Neill's adult books, and I'm longing for the next. Damn! I could have mentioned that on I&P. Oh well. Can't wait for The Iron King, and I'm actually looking forward to Blue Moon, I think it looks good!

Cindy - They do! I can't wait to read them!

Sophie - Awesome! Can't wait for them all! :D

  17. Oh, I love The Bermudez Triangle too. It's the only Maureen Johnson book I've read so far but I have plans for more.

  18. The Bermudez Triangle looks really good! I can't wait to have a copy in my hands!
RE The Iron King - the cover is amazing, so gorgeous!

  19. Sorry I was confusing! Until recently The Bermudez Triangle was the only one of Maureen Johnson's many books to have a UK version - that's what I meant! Now 13 Little Blue Envelopes is available here too. I had to buy the others from the US, which I normally try to avoid - but I had to! :)
Anyway, I loved The Bermudez Triangle.

  20. Ohh, I understand! Oh!!! I have 13 Little Blue Envelopes in my TBR pile! *dances* Although I posted it long ago, I didn't realise it was the same author; I posted a video for SiTL Month by Maureen Johnson about The Bermudez Triangle, where she contradicts those who say the book should be censored. She looks awesome, and the video is the main reason I wanted to read the book! Perhaps I should pick up 13LBE soon!
