The Fool’s Girl by Celia ReesThe Fool’s Girl by Celia Rees

Inside My Head by Jim CarringtonInside My Head by Jim Carrington

This cleverly constructed narrative consists of three points of view: of Gary, constantly victimised by the school bully in a nasty, name-calling and vindictive way; the bully's friend, David and a new girl to the school, Zoe. All viewpoints are revealing. Gary reveals the painful and often unsuccessful attempts by a young man to control his anger under great provocation - and his inability to communicate. David is someone who is uncomfortable with the bullying but doesn't dare to do anything about it - until the end. Zoe is a young woman who can see Gary through different eyes and is independent, freethinking and brave. Also featured in this title are rampaging tractors, shotguns and cheese puffs. From Amazon UK

The Reckoning by Kelley ArmstrongThe Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong

The nail-biting climax to Kelley Armstrong's bestselling Darkest Powers trilogy Chloe Saunders is fifteen and would love to be normal. Unfortunately, Chloe happens to be a genetically engineered necromancer who can raise the dead without even trying. She and her equally gifted (or should that be 'cursed'?) friends are now running for their lives from the evil corporation that created them. As if that's not enough, Chloe is struggling with her feelings for Simon, a sweet-tempered sorcerer, and his brother Derek, a not so sweet-tempered werewolf. And she has a horrible feeling she's leaning towards the werewolf...Definitely not normal.

  3. That's an amazing number of books to get in one week! They look great too. I'm loving the sound of The Fool's Girl.

  4. So am I! The Fool's Girl sounds really good! The Joanna Kenrick and The Lord of the Mountain novels are all very short as they're for struggling and reluctant readers, so they take about 20 - 30 mins to read. I'm looking forward to reading them though! :)

  5. Oh My Goodness, how many books?! I am feeling more than a little book envy at the minute, because check you out!

Am so stoked to see what you think of The Reckoning, I've been waiting for that to be released for a while now and I am so excited to see where the story ends. Plus, can't wait until the themed week kicks off, should be fun.

  12. Carla - I have to say, about five of those books are very tiny, about 75 ish pages long, so they're very quick reads, so they're perhaps a normal sized book and a bit length wise. So it's not too many books when you think like that.
And I am SO excited for The Reckoning! It's going to be so good, I think (and hope!), I'm really looking forward to it! :D

Dwayne - Thank you! Oh, I'm a fan of reading about issues that are close to my heart. Baby Father would have worked for Sex in Teen Lit Month last year, and Out just sounds SO good! I've got some fun reading ahead! :)

Jenny - Cheers! I'm looking forward to reading the Kenrick novels, I requested them myself; I loved Screwed, so I'm hoping these books are just as good! And I'm currently all for books for reluctant/struggling readers, so it's all good! :)

Raíla - Thank you! Haha, I know, I got a fair few books this week :) I'm looking forward to The Fool's Girl, it looks so good! And the cover is very pretty; the yellow is actually metallic shiny gold!

Jessica - I don't think I've received The Reckoning too early, it's released over here on 6th April. So not too early :)

Luisa - Thank you! Ohh, I requested the Joanna Kenrick ones especially! I just loved Screwed, and these all look so good! Looking forward to them! Pretty Face looks pretty cool too (though I am anti-cover - the US cover is SO much better, imo), and Mary has agreed to be interviewed or write a guest post! So it's great! :)

Becky - Cheers! Oh, I know, The Fool's Girl looks brilliant! I can't wait to read it! :)

  30. Oh, just come across this! Thank you for requesting copies of my BS books - I LOVE writing for BS, they are an amazingly wonderful publisher. I hope you like them - you may be interested to know that Babyfather sells best but OUT, the most recent, was the hardest to write. They didn't send you Mind Set then? If you email me through my site www.joannakenrick.com I'll send you a copy ;-)

  31. Hi Joanna, thanks for stopping by! BS is such a great publisher, I think it's amazing what they do! And your books sound so good! Really? I would have thought they would have been as hard as each other to write, seeing as they're both such important topics, but that's interesting! I shall email you now! :)
