World Smile Day: Things that Make Me Smile
Happy World Smile Day! On this joyful day, I thought I'd share some of the things that make me smile, in no particular order.
Spotting the first daisies of Spring - my favourite flower!
Spending quality time with my family. Visiting extended family.
Seeing a rainbow.
Hearing a baby laugh.
In the bookshop I work at, serving children who are confident and bold, and have no problem talking to me, and those that are shy, being encouraged by their parents to ask me themselves.
Sitting by the lake in my local park.
Going to see a musical.
Dolphins - they're so gorgeous!
Being a tourist on holiday, seeing all the sights.
Warmth! I am, as my family calls me, a "freezy-bum" - I really feel the cold, I'm practically always cold, and I hate it. So being warm! Being all wrapped up and cosy in the Winter, when the heating is on and I'm under a blanket with a cup of tea. Or it being so wonderfully warm in the Summer that I can actually ditch my jacket.
Christmas Day. It fills me with so much joy! Spending time with the family, sharing presents, playing games. No TV, no computers (some of the time - my dad and brother can't seem to stay off theirs), and no phones. Just us, together.
Writing, this blog. It's my creative outlet.
Fish. I love fish. All their pretty colours, seeing them swim around. It's so peaceful and beautiful. I don't do dogs because I'm scared of them, I don't do cats because their scratch everything and malt everywhere. But I can absolutely do fish, and fall completely in love with them.
The kindness and compassion of others.
Going to a restaurant for steak and chips.
A nice, long bus ride.
The Notebook - I love that movie. The Little Mermaid! The Graham Norton Show. Doctor Who with the Tenth Doctor. The X-Men movies. Stranger Things. I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. Call the Midwife.
Point-and-click PC adventure games like Simon the Sorcerer, Monkey Island, Kyrandia, Discworld.
80's music.
Making memories. Celebrations.
So those are just a smattering of things that make me smile! What makes you smile? Let me know in the comments!
