YA Book Prize 2015 Reading Challenge

YA book prizeLast Thursdsay, the Bookseller's YA Book Prize 2015 shortlist was announced! I was so excited to see a few really amazing books on the list, plus a few I haven't read. Here are the books that are on the shortlist.

A Song For Ella Grey by David Almond Salvage by Keren David
Say Her Name by James Dawson Lobsters by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivison Half Bad by Sally GreenFinding a Voice by Kim Hood
Only Ever Yours by Louise O'NeillGoose by Dawn O'Porter Trouble by Non Pratt The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick

An awesome shortlist, right? And I have decided to try and read all the books that have been shortlisted by the end of 2015. I have read three already, and will mark these on my reading challenge page. Anyone else interested in joining me? :)

  1. I want to join you in doing this since I already want to read most of those books but I really, really don't do classic horror like, at all. Say Her Name's cover terrifies me just looking at it. However, I do want to read all the other books on the list! So maybe I'll do this challenge but just... pretend Say Her Name doesn't exist. Er.

I've only read one on the list so far (Only Ever Yours was too good, oh my god, I haven't read any of the others ones BUT I WANT ONLY EVER YOURS TO WIN). But I already own two of the other ones and am planning to start Salvage today! Pretty excited. It looks good.

(Also, just in case you didn't realise, this is Cynthia from Jellyfish Reads! I moved blogs. I now blog at Afterwritten.)

    1. Hey Cynthia! So glad to see you back! I knew it was you, I'm already following your new blog on Bloglovin'! :)

Ooh, awesome! I'll be keeping an eye on your blog to see how you're getting on! I don't do horror, myself, either. But I did ready Dawson's Hollow Pike, and that was supposed to be scary... and wasn't. I'm actually not looking forward to reading Say Her Name because I just don't like Dawson's writing style, but there we go. If Say Her Name fails to be terrifying, I'll let you know! :)

I KNOW! Only Ever Yours was so bloody good, I'm already rooting for it! But I loved Lobsters, too, and Trouble was also pretty good! Looking forward to your reviews of those two in partcular! I saw today that you've now finished Salvage, and will be heading over to check out your review soon!

Thanks for stopping by, Cynthia! :)

    2. Oh, I didn't realise you were already following me on Bloglovin! You're not showing up in my followers list. Weird.

Hmm. I'm sad to hear you don't like Dawson's writing style! I want to read his books because LGBTQ characters and stuff, but he just doesn't write any books that actually appeal to me, so I'm not sure whether I'll ever actually read his books ever.

I'm reading Lobsters at the moment and it's pretty good, but I don't think it's amazing, whereas I do think Only Ever Yours is amazing. I am looking forward to reading Trouble as well! And Half Bad, since that was sort of more hyped all over the world instead of just in the UK, so I know more about it.

    3. Yeah, I'm pretty much the same. Though I search out LGBTQ YA, I'll only read it if the story itself appeals. I don't see much point in reading books you don't fancy. Though that's being put on hold for the challenge :)

Only Ever Yours is amazong! I loved it so much! But I've now read Finding a Voice. They're bothe very different stories, and Finding a Voice is SO good. I think it's going to be hard for the judges to choose.

  2. I've only read 3 of the books so far (Trouble, Salvage and Say Her Name) but I'm definitely excited to read the rest. Hopefully in time for the prize winner to be announced. Particularly excited to read Ghosts of Heaven, Only Ever Yours, Lobsters and A Song For Ella Grey!
