For review:

Lobsters by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivison - So looking forward to this! It sounds like such a sweet story! And I've been told it will be great for SiTL Month II!

Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld - Really intrigued by this. A story about a teenager who's publishing a novel AND the novel she's publishing. I was sent a press release a few days ago about the book, but as if it was for Darcy, the fictional author. Was intrigued but confused - I didn't know Simon and Schuster had an imprint called Paradox! Made sense once the book arrived! :) Looking forward to reading it!

NetGalley:

My Soon-To-Be Sex Life by Judith Tewes - Read this one already, it's awesome!! One for SiTl Month II. It's perfect for it. (Not pictured)

Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel by Sara Farizan - This sounds really intriguing! An LGBTQ YA romance, with a sexuality/culture clash. Looking forward to giving it a go! However, it's not available to send to Kindle, so I'm kind of stuck at the moment :/ (Not pictured)

Frenemy of the People by Nora Olsen - I saw this one several times throughout LGBT+ April, so when I saw it on NetGalley, had to request it. Really hope I enjoy it!

Bought:

Losing It by Cora Carmack - Only £1.99! Bought for SiTL Month II! Looking forward to reading it. (Not pictured - arrived after photos were taken.)

Freebies:

Tape by Steven Camden (proof)
When Mr Dog Bites by Brian Conaghan (proof)
Just Like Fate by Cat Patrick & Suzanne Young (proof)
The Relic Guild by Edward Cox (proof)
Perry Angel's Suitcase by Glenda Millard (Not pictured)
Noah Barleywater Runs Away by John Boyne (Not pictured)
The Boy Who Swam with Piranhas by David Almond (Not pictured)

All of the above were free from work, before the move! The first three are for me - yes, already have Tape as a eProof, but now I have a physical copy - the last three are for my best mate's baby - never too early to start their library! Though I didn't realise that Perry Angel is the third book in a series. Need to get the first two.

Thank you to Chicken House and Simon and Schuster Children's Books, and Bloomsbury Spark, Algonquin Young Readers and Bold Strokes Books via NetGalley for the review copy.

Inspired by Faye of A Daydreamer's Thoughts's Weekly Recap, here is a recap of my posts over the last week, and anything else I found interesting.

Elsewhere:

Last week, I forgot to mention that The Bookseller posted an article with quotes from Caitlin Moran, taken from a subscribers-only interview, where she talks about girls in YA only getting beitten by vampires, as well as the importance of sexy books. You've probably seen it already. It wound a lot of people up - check out the #caitlinmoranshouldread hashtag.

This week, I read two awesome responses to Moran; Beyond Bella from Alice Nuttall, and on Flavorwire, Caitlin Moran Says There Are No Sexy YA Books for Girls, Has No Idea What She’s Talking About.

Also, Michael Gove, the educational secretary, has changed English Lit GCSEs - no more American novels.

  1. I read Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel and I loved it SO MUCH. I cannot wait to post my review nearer October. It's really funny and light-hearted and sweet and I just had such a good time reading it. I really hope you like it too!

Hmm, the premise of Afterworlds does sound really interesting! I haven't read any Scott Westerfeld in ages.

I wanna read Lobsters! I hope you like it. It just has such a cute title and cover. I saw your tweet about My Soon-to-Be Sex Life as well and I can't wait for it to come out so I can read it!
