First Class Post

For review:

Skylark by Meagan Spooner - Goodreads / Amazon
This is a 2013 YA dystopian UK debut. Need I say much more? I am really intrigued!

Shadows by Paula Weston - Goodreads / Amazon
I am intrigued by this urban fantasy, but also feel it sounds a little like a few others out there. I don't know, maybe reading too many angel books? Still, it could be really good! If you've read it and loved it, please let me know!

Hidden by Marianne Curely - Goodreads / Amazon
So maybe I'm lying, because this angel book sounds awesome! Really looking forward to it! And Curely's first book since recovering from caner, which I think is awesome!

Ferryman by Claire McFall - Goodreads / Amazon
I am terribly excited for this 2013 YA debut! It sounds like it'll be an amazing story! Maybe bittersweet?

The Day I Met Suzie by Chris Higgins - Goodreads / Amazon
This sounds really intriguing! I love the fact that it's a story told to a Samaritan over the phone. I'm really looking forward to finding out what happens. I don't like the sound of this Susie!

Heart Shaped Bruise by Tanya Byrne - Goodreads / Amazon
This book has been raved about, so I'm super excited to read it! This is more a gift than a review copy - an early Christmas pressie from the publisher!

Geek Girl by Holly Smale - Goodreads / Amazon
Another 2013 YA debut that I'm looking forward to! It sounds so good! (Has anyone else noticed the weirdness around the girl's mouth? No shading/shadow beneath her bottom lip! Looks odd! Hope it's just the proof cover and not on the finished cover too.)

Sister Assassin by Kiersten White - Goodreads / Amazon
This sounds AMAZING! I am so excited to read it! Can you imagine how good it's going to be? Eee!

CODA by Emma Trevayne - Goodreads / Amazon
This 2013 YA debut is one I will be reading for LGBTQ YA Month and it sounds AWESOME! A dystopian New York where the only music allowed is the kind mind-altering, addictive kind? A boy who has an underground band? A friend who mysteriously overdoses from said music? This all makes me one hell of an excited Jo! :D

Code by Kathy Reichs and Brendan Reichs - Goodreads / Amazon
This is an unsolicited review copy, the third in a series I haven't read nor have any interest in, so I won't be reading this one either.

Bought:

The Vincent Boys: New and Uncensored by Abbi Glines - Goodreads / Amazon
I bought this eBook on a whim. I really, really want to read this, but I would prefer it in paperback, so I was going to wait until it is published as such next year. But the eBook was 99p and promised extra content. So bought. But I think I'll still want to get my hands on the paperback next year. BUT EEE, HOW GOOD DOES THIS SOUND?! I am loving the whole New Adult idea!

Anatomy of a Boyfriend by Daria Snadowsky - Goodreads / Amazon
This sounds sooo good! I heard the sequel is coming out soon, so I thought I'd buy myself a copy to catch up. Looking forward to reading it!

Free Kindle Books:

The Fallen Star by Jessica Sorensen - Goodreads / Amazon
Darkness Falls by Jessica Sorensen - Goodreads / Amazon
These two books are the first books in separate YA urban fantasy series. They're self-published, but I recently read a post on Narratively Speaking about self-published novels which made me think, and as they were free, I decided to give them a go.

Thank you to RHCP, Orion Children's Books, Bloomsbury, Templar, Hodder Children's Books, Headline, HarperCollin's Children's Books, Perseus Books, and Young Arrow for the review copies.

  1. Yay for Heart-Shaped Bruise! It's amazing - one of my favourite books so far this year.

    1. Oh, has everyone? I've yet to see any book hauls. But it does sound amazing! SO looking forward to Vincent Boys! Maybe my next read? We'll see.

  4. SISTER ASSASSIN!!! Jooooooooo! I am so excited to read that!! I'm interested to see how the varying names and covers between US and UK fit the tone of the book.

I have been seeing The Vincent Boys EVERYWHERE lately. IT'S FREAKING STALKING ME. I think every second person has read and loved it!! I have a copy coming this week, so I'm eager to see what all the fuss is about. I hope we both love it :D

I so, so enjoyed Shadows! I found it a breathe of fresh air compared to all the other angel books I've read. Fast-paced and plenty of mystery, plus it's set in Australia! Really, the last part should sell you on it's own ;D

Also: CODA. I have it on my GR shelves, but this feels like the first time I've actually read the summary. Weird. But damn, it sounds incredible!! Super excited for your LGBTQ YA month!

    1. Doesn't Sister Assassin just sound AWESOME?! So excited to read it! Based on title alone rather than actual storyline, I prefer "Mind Games" as a title. I don't know, it sounds slightly scarier? Thought it may not be about being scared, so I could be completely wrong. And I'm not the biggest fan of either cover, but I love the synopsis!

Oh my gosh, I'm sure we both will love The Vincent Boys! SO MUCH BUZZ! It's the second New Adult book I have, but possibly the first I'll read? We'll see! So intrigued by New Adult!

Haha! Well, if you loved Shadows, Brodie, I'm sure I'll love it too! I'm now really looking forward to it! Oooh, angels that may know Lou Carpenter! :P

SO LOOKING FORWARD TO CODA! Part of me wants to pick up right now, but I like to try reading debuts in the year they're released, so I'm holding off a bit. But eeee, it sounds SO good! I'm also pretty excited about LGBTQ YA Month! I think it's going to go really well! Well, hopefully! :)

    1. I know! They sound so good! Especially looking forward to Geek Girl, but I won't read that until next year as it's a 2013 debut.
