Chicklish Birthday Event and More!

Firstly, I need to apologise for being a bit slack with news posts. Things have been a little hectic away from the internet over the last few weeks, a lot has been happening. But here is one post with all the news bits I need to share with you all.

CHICKLISH BIRTHDAY EVENT

Chicklish, the wonderful book blog edited by awesome YA author Luisa Plaja, is turning four this year! To celebrate, there is going to be a Birthday Event!

Tales on Moon Lane and Southwark Libraries would like to invite you to spend an evening with teen authors Luisa Plaja, Sarra Manning, Keris Stainton and Simmone Howell at Dulwich Library on Monday 28th June at 5.45pm.

The authors will be discussing their writing from 6.15 followed by an opportunity to get books signed. Drinks will be served. There is no charge for tickets but places are limited, If you would like to book a place please call Tales on Moon Lane on 0207 274 5759, email us on
info@talesonmoonlane.co.uk or pop into the shop or Dulwich Library.

I am SO excited! I have booked my place, and I'm really looking forward to it - as long as my new job hasn't started before then! Not only am I going to meet some seriously awesome authors and have a good time with some fellow book bloggers - there is at least one I know of who's planning on going - but I will also finally get to meet the awesome Luisa! After the help and support she has given me over the last year, it'll be awesome to meet her and thank her properly.

Fellow UK book bloggers - how about another UK bloggers meet up? I think there are at least a few of us who would be eager to go to this event, so how about it?

BLOOMSBURY AUTHOR VIDEOS

I received an email from Bloomsbury with some links videos to share with you all.

Take a look at Celia Rees talking about her Shakespeare inspired novel The Fool’s Girl at The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-upon-Avon.

Lucy Jago takes us on a tour of the National Trust property Montacute House, and explains why she chose to set her book of the same name in this beautiful house.

Ian Beck’s thrilling trailer for Pastworld will have you on the edge of your seat.

The chilling trailer for Mortlock by Jon Mayhew will send shivers down your spine.

TORMENT EXTRACT

I was emailed by Random House Children's Books with news that Random House US had released a Torment extract! I am sooo excited for this book you have no idea. Get clicking and get reading! Feel free to discuss here if you like!

MELVIN BURGESS

On Saturday 5th June, I went with Becky of The Bookette, Caroline of Portrait of a Woman and Non of Catnip Publishing to a Melvin Burgess talk and signing! It was just awesome! Becky has written an awesome event summary, go check it out!

BI&SP MONTH UPDATE & REQUEST FOR HELP

As I said at the beginning of this post, life has been a bit hectic for me lately. This means I haven't made as much progress as I would have liked with my BI&SP Month reading. I'm still working my way through the books I want to read, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to get through them all in time, unfortunately. I had no idea I would be so busy, or I would have managed my time a little better. What does this mean? There might not be quite as many posts as I would like on my blog for this month.

With this in mind, if there is anyone who would be willing to help me out, either by reading a book on the topic (check out the list here) and writing a guest review, or writing a guest post on the topic, I would really appreciate it. If you're interested at all, please email me at joannestapley[at]googlemail[dot]com. Thank you so much!

  2. That's just awesome! We had a meet up last month, which was just brilliant! It would be great to maybe meet up with some people earlier in the day, maybe, and hang out a bit before the event. Would be awesome! I am SO excited for this event!

  4. Oh, it would be awesome if you could come! I am hoping I can, it all depends on if I have a job then or not, and my hours if I am. It'll be good to see you there if we can both go! :)
Becky's post is just brilliant, right? I admire her note-taking skills!

  9. Just asking here because I wasn't sure where else I could do it - has anyone who sent an e-mail to book for the Chicklish event gotten an e-mail back? I haven't gotten anything and I'm a bit concerned.

  10. I did get an email back - but then I asked if there was anything else they needed. I've just looked and I got a big-standard "That is booked for you. I look forward to seeing you there." Have you tried your junk? Maybe email again asking to confirm you have a place booked? :S I so hope you have a place!

  11. I've sent them another e-mail asking them to confirm whether I've got a place or not. Hopefully I will hear back, otherwise I guess I'll ring the shop!
