Song Quest by Katherine Roberts

help get song quest back in print blog tour I am the fourth stop on Becky of The Bookette's Help Get Song Quest Back in Print tour. Unfortunately, after making my way few chapters in, I've realised that I'm just not in the mood to read it right now. Normally, this would mean I would put the book aside, read some other books, and come back to it later, and in some cases, I do end up liking the book. However, as this is a book tour, it's not really fair for me to keep ahold of it until I feel like giving it a go again. So, I've decided to pass the book on to the next blogger, and buy my own copy to read at a later date. I can't not post about the book, however, as I id sign up for the tour, so I thought I would highlight a few reviews. Firstly, here's the summary:

From the Isle of Echoes the forces of good and evil are held in harmony by those who hear and sing. When a mainlander's ship is wreeked and the Merlee half creatures are heard crying across the waves the lives of three novice Singers are changed forever. Rialle, the heroine, who hears the cry of the Merlee, is sent to calm them with Challa, her voice as sweet as sunlight. Frenn, her friend and protector, follows as a stowaway while Kherron, the rebel, allows his desire for freedom to take him into danger and a headlong clash with the enemy and their mysterious powers. All are caught up in a dangerous and sinister web, battling against the powers of darkness that threaten to destroy their world. From Amazon UK
Here are some of what the other blogger's thought of Song Quest:

Sammee of I Want to Read That said, "This is one of those books I really wish I had read when I was younger. As an adult it’s a book I really enjoyed but as a child I would have absolutely treasured it."

Chloe of The Book Bug said, "Its one of the most original that I have read in a very long time... Its extremely well-written, the plot complicated and elaborate with well developed characters."

Ah Yuan of GAL Novelty said, "I reread this book so many times as a kid that you can see how worn the cover is around the edges, the creases. I always considered Song Quest one of my formative childhood books and first few fantasy loves."

Song Quest was the winner of the Branford Boase Award, and was also longlisted for the Carnegie Medal.

You can buy Song Quest from Amazon UK and from Amazon US.

  1. I've had that experience before - I actually had the first Chaos Walking book on my shelf for about six months without being in the mood to read it (and then when I did, it was love). I think I'm the next stop on the tour for this one - I can't wait to read it!

  2. Thanks for posting this Jo. I totally know what you mean. If I try to read a book when I'm not in the mood for it, I can end out hating it. That would be awful! Thanks for trying!
