First Class Post

For review:

Among Others by Jo Walton - Goodreads / Amazon
This sounds like such an awesome story! I don't know what to call it though; urban fantasy doesn't seem right, yet I wouldn't know what else to class it as. Any help? I love the sound of the main character reading fantasy and sci-fi and talking about her experiences with them - I think it'll feel quite nostalgic when reading it! And it's won all these fantasy awards, which sounds quite impressive!

Bought:

Annabel by Kathleen Winter - Goodreads / Amazon
This book was recommended to me on Twitter for LGBTQ YA Month, and when I saw one lonely copy of it at work and realised what it was, I snapped it up! Really looking forward to this, though I might have to view it as crossover. We'll see when I read it.

Thank you to Constable and Robinson for the review copy.

  1. I haven't heard of either of those but they both sound really interesting. Enjoy!

    1. Thanks! I know, there are so many! It is scary sometimes the amount of books you discover and want, when your TBR pile is already on the verge of collapsing!

  3. Oooh Among Others looks intriguing! I've never heard of it before, but it sounds like such a cool idea. I just read someone refer to it as sci-fi in their review, but I don't know if that's the "official" categorisation or just guessing. Very much looking forward to your thoughts on it!

And your LGBTQ YA month is seriously going to be FANTASTIC. All these amazing books you mention for it, you're going to open my eyes to a whole new way of reading, because I don't read nearly as much on this topic as I'd like.

    1. I'd not heard of Among Others until I received the press release about it! I am excited and intrigued! I'll check the press release again to see if there's mention of a genre. But the idea of "sci-fi" puts me off a little. Not the biggest sci-fi fan. (Until I read some sci-fi and go OOOH THAT WAS GOOD! But that doesn't happen often as I tend to steer clear, ha!)

Oh, thank you! I'm really hoping it does turn out well! I'm still reading an LGBTQ YA book for every other book I read, but I've not read as many as I would have hoped to have by now. I'll keep at it though. :) And yes! I do hope it's a little... enlightening? But not in a superior sense, if that makes sense? I just want people to discover some new books, maybe have their eyes opened a bit, and enjoy the posts. Then I'll be happy :)
