First Class Post

For review:

Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan - Goodreads / Amazon
I was sent an eBook a few weeks ago, but now I have a nice finished paperback copy! Which makes me happy. I am so intrigued by this book! I have started it, but not too far in yet. Not sure what to make of it yet.

Embrace by Jessica Shirvingston - Goodreads / Amazon
Entice by Jessica Shirvingston - Goodreads / Amazon
Lisa of Read Me Bookmark Me Love Me raves about this series, so  I jumped at the chance to review the first two books - this girl has great taste in books! And it's about angels! So excited to read these!

The Edge of Nowhere by Elizabeth George - Goodreads / Amazon
I received a proof of this just a few weeks ago - maybe three? I haven't yet got round to it yet, though. But now a nice finished hardback copy! I am so excited to start this book, it sounds awesome!

The Spindlers by Lauren Oliver - Goodreads / Amazon
EEEEEEEEE!!! My love of Hodder & Stoughton knows no bounds! They've only gone and sent me a GORGEOUS finished hardback copy of The Spindlers! I loved this book, you can read my review here. And it's so beautiful! Especially with metallic purple used for the title and other details on the cover. It's just beautiful! Ohhh, I could hug it, it's so pretty!

Taken by Benedict Jacka - Goodreads / Amazon
This is an unsolicited review copy, and the third book in the series. However, it does sounds really awesome! So I'm going to be on the lookout for the first two in the series, Fated and Cursed. Urban fantasy set in the UK! You've got to love it! :)

Full Blooded by Amanda Carlson - Goodreads / Amazon
Another unsolicited review copy, but it sounds amazing! An urban fantasy about werewolves! It sounds really interesting! How one girl can cause so much trouble simply because she exists - the only female werewolf! Sold!

The Blinding Knife by Brent Weeks - Goodreads / Amazon
Again, this was unsolicited. I'm not sure if I'll be reading it; it's the second book in a series, and it's massive. It does sound intriguing, but I am such a slow reader... part of me feels it wouldn't be fair to read two huge books when it's going to take me so long to get through them. We'll see.

Confessions of a Teenage Hermaphrodite by Lianne Simon - Goodreads / Amazon
EBook review copy. Confessions... sounds so fascinating! I've not read a book about a hermaphrodite before, and I think this will be a real eye-opener.

Bought:

The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood - Goodreads / Amazon
Simple reason for why I bought this, so many YA dystopian novels these days are compared to this book, so I decided it was about time I read it!

Thank you to Simon and Schuster Children's Books, Atom, Hodder and Stoughton, Orbit, and Lianne Simon for the review copies.

    1. Thanks! :) Exactly, so many YA novels are compared to The Handmaid's Tale, it seems wrong not to read it! Plus it actually sounds SO good! Unspoken isn't too bad so far! :)

  3. Unspoken! Hmm, you're unsure what to make of it? Not sure if that's a positive thing haha. Curious to see what your end thoughts are. I SO need to read the Embrace series! I have all four books and they're STILL sitting unread in my bookshelves! And that bloody Lisa has been raving about them forever :P So I figure I need to cave in soon. Amazing haul, Jo, hope you enjoy!

    1. Well, my thoughts so far are that it feels like a novel by Sarah Rees Brennan - it has her usual wit to it. Make of that what you will, but I wasn't the biggest fan of The Demon's Lexicon. But I'm not too far into Unspoken yet, so we'll see, I may end up loving it!

Lisa has raved, hasn't she! Fortunately (or not?) for me, Embrace and Entice are the only ones out in the UK at the moment, so I don't have too many books to read to catch up. I am so looking forward to them though! :)

Thank you! So many awesome sounding books to read! :) Excitement!

    1. Thanks! Unspoken... has it's good points and it's bad points. I'm not in love with it, but I guess I'm kind of enjoying it. It's addictive anyway :) And I am so looking forward to the The Edge of Nowhere! Sounds so good!

  6. We tend to get a lot of the same books Jo and I'm so excited that you got Embrace and Entice. I think Embrace was totally underrated when it came out as personally, I think the cover blended in too well with all the other dark books out there. I loved it and I hope you do too!
