Catching Suki is a short story prequel to Hunting Lila. Before I continue with my review, I must point out that this short story shouldn't be read before Hunting Lila. With some prequels you can, but with this one some of the events kind of overlap or give you an idea of things you should only find out through reading Hunting Lila - so definitely no reading until after you're done with Hunting Lila.
This short story was just awesome! Suki is SO cute! I would love for her to have her own story at some point, because her outlook is just awesome! She is funny, and this story had me grinning most of the way through, even when things weren't going so well, just because it was her telling it.
I loved how we got some insight into some things that happen that Lila doesn't witness in the full-length novel. To be honest, they weren't really things I questioned as I was reading Hunting Lila, but makes you understand a little bit more. How did Jack and Alex capture Alicia? Why exactly was Suki snooping around Jack's house? And what did she find out when she shook Lila's hand? It's really the things that Suki does as well as Lila's arrival that set off the chain of events that lead to the suspence filled momets of Hunting Lila. Lila on her own isn't the sole catalyst, which was interesting to discover. I am so up for more short stories like this from Alderson in future - especially one from Nate's point of view, he is so funny!
I have to say, I absolutely love this cover! It fits the story so well, it's just brilliant. And I am just completely in love with this story, and I can't wait for more!
