Straw House, Wood House, Brick House, Blow by Daniel Nayeri Commercials

Straw House, Wood House, Brick House, Blow by Daniel NayeriDaniel Nayeri, co-author of Another Faust, is releasing his own solo-novel, Straw House, Wood House, Brick House, Blow, on 25th October from Candlewick Press! The book is a collection of four stories of different genres:

Straw House: A Western sizzling with suspense, set in a land where a rancher grows soulless humans and a farmer grows living toys.

Wood House: This science-fiction tale plunges the reader into a future where reality and technology blend imperceptibly, and a teenage girl must race to save the world from a nano-revolution that a corporation calls "ReCreation Day."

Brick House: This detective story set in modern NYC features a squad of "wish police" and a team of unlikely detectives.

Blow: A comedic love story told by none other than Death himself, portrayed here as a handsome and charismatic hero who may steal your heart in more ways than one. With humor, suspense, and relatable prose, this hip and cutting-edge collection dazzles.

And check out these awesome comercials advertising each story.

Our Lady of Villains:

Wish Police:

Doom With a View:

Toy Farm:

How cool does this book sound? I shall be keeping my eyes peeled for a copy!

  1. Interesting that he's choosing to hit four different genres in one book. I don't think I've seen any others or anthologies try that. Very interesting!

  2. IT does sound good! I really want to read it!

  3. Reminds of the Animatrix, a collection of short animated featurettes exploring life's what-ifs.
The genre and stylistic qualities of each story complement their corresponding plot and concepts. Yet together their contrasts define the sense of imagination and surrealism that always fascinated me in Fantasia and kaleidoscopes. After seeing these commercials and other reviews (some of which compare Nayeri's work to Carroll's), I feel full of curiosity and wonder...
